International Mobiliy in Heigher Education Programs (IMHEP)

Annual Meeting of Project Directors under the Program for North American Mobility in Higher Education and the Canada-European Community Program for Cooperation in Higher Education and Training.

The two international mobility programs in higher education were established by Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC), in conjunction with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and participating countries, to develop international institutional cooperation in higher education and broaden student exchange across North America and the European Community.

IMHEP (1998)

Under these programs, HRDC supports the development of joint projects carried out by multilateral consortia involving Canadian higher education institutions and students. Other participating countries provide comparable levels of support for their institutions.

IMHEP (1998)

As part of the planning and execution of activities, program guidelines call for each consortium to attend a yearly session held in one of the participating countries.  In 1998, Canada is the host country for the meetings of consortia funded under both programs, and it has been decided to hold these meetings concurrently, including time for cross-discussion among all participants.

IMHEP, a conference with over 220 delegates from the US, Canada, Europe and Mexico, was organized on behalf of the Canadian government and the European commission by Prof. Swayne (University of Guelph, Conference Chair), Prof. Denzer (Saarland State University for Applied Sciences) and Environmental Informatics Institute (EII).
